I am an on-location photographer who shoots in client’s homes, local parks, etc using natural light. I would describe my style as real, simple, and beautiful. I strive to capture reality but to make it beautiful. I don’t throw in a lot of bells and whistles because I love to see the authentic person, so my pictures end up simple, clean, and bright.
I love photography because it allows me to capture a moment or stage and freeze it. I adore the squishiness and newness of babies new to this world. They change so quickly and it’s easy to forget how they were in their first few days here if we don’t have a way to look back on it. I love the innocence I see in children, the pure joy or sorrow they allow to show without worrying what they look like. I love to show teenagers and adults that they are gorgeous, handsome, and have worth. Often we get so caught up in other things we forget that we are special; we are beautiful. I want to show people that they have that side to them that can be easily forgotten when you focus on the day-to-day, but stays forever when preserved in photographs. You may not feel beautiful, but you are!
I’ve always loved photography, but I didn’t do much more than dabble until my daughter was born in 2010. Since then, I was brought to the realization that photography has a way of freezing and preserving time. I became a believer that “beautiful memories deserve beautiful photos” and sought to improve my skills for the sake of my daughter. I started getting requests from friends and family – would I take their pictures? I decided that I truly loved it and kicked it all into gear. I bought my first DSLR camera, took a few classes, read half a dozen books, and was given opportunities to learn from mentors. Above all, I practiced. So no, while I have a college degree, it is not in photography. I am mostly self-taught. In the end, I don’t think that is what matters. What matters is if you see in my photographs a quality, emotion, and timelessness that you want to have for yourself.
